Achernar SAS was founded in 2012 as a fish and seafood processor and trader. In 2017, after being acquired by Icelandic Ibérica, it undertook the first phase of investments with the purchase and transformation of the plant in Puerto Madryn and specialised in processing and exporting the "red gold of the South Seas", the Argentinean Red Shrimp, and also squid. In 2019, the merger of Icelandic Ibérica with Iceland Seafood into the new Iceland Seafood Ibérica will bring a further strategic and investment boost and position Achernar as one of the leading exporters in the south of Argentina.
